Most Meaningful Use of Art Form
Description:
The
sculpture was inspired by an Art Nouveau
pin circa 1898 created by Rene Lalique.
The dragon fly body is created with
wood, foam and resin, then decorated
with pieces of antique silver which
includes two sugar bowls, a tea pot lid
and dish handles. The dragon fly head
and griffin paws are hand carved in
butter nut wood. The claws are deer
antlers. The torso and face are cast in
resin from two different models. The
girl's head piece is sculpted in epoxy
clay. The wings are wood and epoxy with
insets of antique silver plates.
The
work has been created as part of an
ongoing series entitled 'Myth
Understood,' and is currently available
for sale.
