Donated
to: Austin
Lyric Opera Guild for an auction fundraiser.
Description:
The
statue of Elektra was made for and presented
to the Austin Lyric Opera Guild on the
occasion of the performance of Strauss'
opera "Elektra". Cast
in gypsum pottery plaster,
the sculpture is presented in
bas-relief form as
found in classical Greek sculpture.
The 300 pound piece was executed
in a period of only two weeks with different
Opera Guild members acting
as models.
The different pieces were assembled,
sculpted to match, and
finally dressed in a plaster coated toga.
The
sculpture will be auctioned to raise funds
for AOL.
Publicity:
Elektra made her debut at the Austin Lyric Opera kick-off fundraiser toga party. The sculpture
and artist received publicity in the ALO newsletter and the "Downtown Planet" newspaper.
Everyone at the party posed for photos in front of the sculpture.
