A last word from me on the subject. Here is the information from three of US
Gypsums most popular plasters. I pulled it from the MSDS sheets this
evening:
Pottery Plaster, Dental Plaster, Hydrocal
Components by weight:
Plaster of Paris 95%
Crystalline Silica 5% <--- Free-silica
That is why you must be much MORE careful with plaster dust. Always wear a
dust mask.
Not to trivialize any of this, but again I have not heard of a mold maker
succumbing to silicosis from his plaster mixes. Perhaps someone in our forum
has?

I mix in a seperate room adjacent to where my models pose. My masks are
hanging on the wall and all plaster/alginates are kept in that room. My
assistant (AKA girlfriend) keeps the models company and helps out mixing.
