To my knowledge, there is no governing body that controls what an "edition"
number is or should be. The artist can copy right their work and then it up to
them to police the work(s) to see that there is no copy right infringement.
The copyright laws protect the work(s) but it is the original producer that
has to do the leg work.
Historically, Tin bronze was used to cast sculpture. Tim bronze is still
used but has gasing problems that require more attention to casting methods. The
silicon bronze family has been around since World War 2 and is a very
castable metal but the silicon slightly inhibits patinas, but is a very clean
melting alloy.
