In France the size of an edition of 'original' bronzes is limited not by statute but by a professional code (a 'Code deontologique'). To be an original the total edition has to be no more than TWELVE, with upto 8 in the main series and upto for artist's proofs. ('Originals' also benefit from sales tax advantages!)

I was wondering, if members could comment for other countries:

- What, if any, is the limit on the size of an edition for a bronze to be original ?

- Is that limit defined by statute or by a professional body or ... ?

- Is there a definition of what (the substance) 'bronze' is (and again who makes that definition) ?

I have put my own much shortened rendering of parts of the French Code (in English) at <http://kitzlen.com/bronze> if anyone wants a more details of one country.

Thanks in advance,

KITZLEN
