Try Matoska or Google Madella wool. It is a natural fiber, very fine that can be spread thin. I use it with Ed's spray.

I have been using cheese cloth as well, it also helps keep the alginate from sliding, But mandella wool? Please excuse my ignorance but what is it and where could I get some?? I've seen it posted before and always wondered.
