Topic Subject : Clothing and Alginate |
|
I have only used Nivea cream on the fabric. I have not tried corn oil. But I will now! I have to concur that everytime I have used clothing, I have had to cut the clothing off the model, then carefully remove the clothing, very, very, carefully. One other thing I learned, snug, no open weave clothing works best. The very first time I tried clothing, it came out good!. The result is attached. It is her hand on her hip. I have also had some total screw ups. Beginners luck on the one I uploaded.
The purpose this casting was to see how clothing and alginate worked. It was to get a sensational pose. Oh one other thing, I had the model put plastic food wrap in her boy shorts so any hairs that might have wanted to peek through the open weave of the pattern in the cloth would not get trapped by the alginate. The cloth and the plastic wrap bunched up in an odd postion that went unoticed until the mold was cast. Hence, we now only show one half of the result ;) The other half was cut away.
This item is cast in Hydrocal, lightly sanded then finished with Metal Coatings B - Bronze. The final result was highlighted with gold colored wax.
