In the old days silicone had to be poured, around a casting, say, in a box. Now
we have thickeners that enable us to paint it on and we can make great molds
using a lot less. We pay around 0 for a gallon, cheaper in 5-gallon buckets
(0) ( I don't dare convert to liters.) We make support molds for the silicone
out of polyester (fiberglass) or plaster/fiber. For linited use it seems you can
cast resin in urethane molds using approved mold releases. This is half the
price of silicones.
