Good call Dan. There was a problem at her shoulders. Her left shoulder blade is more pronounced because her left arm was wrapped around her front side with her left hand resting on her right shoulder. However, the slickness of the petroleum jelly made it difficult to hold her hand in place. No skin to skin friction. Her hand slipped and she did not tell me until the mold came off.
The result was a really awful looking hand and a protrusive shoulder blade. Oh well, we were done for the night. She had already sat through a lengthy pose earlier. She was tired as was I. When the mold cured, I filled in the hand to match the curves of her shoulders and left the shoulder blade to protrude.
She picked up the piece tonight and she loved it. I liked it too. I know it could have been better but still I liked it. It was a happy mistake. I wish my other mistakes were equally pleasing.
Thank you for the tip on the latex paint. I am glad to know I can make that distressed sort of look again without the work I went through the first time. It was fun, but time is money. I will also try the Murphys Oil soap on the next one.
