RE: lifecasting competition:--
Dear ALI Members
I would be happy to revive the Life Casting Award competition this year. But
there has to be a bit more interest. I would need a least ten participants
before I asked Phil Hitchcock to create new award castings. I would love to
hear from members regarding this. We could set the time in the fall to give
plenty of opportunity for those life casters to create an entry during the
summer.
Do you remember the ALI premise? "To advance life casting and its awareness
in the general public." A competition is a great way to do so. So I
speculated.
>From the better late than never department -- Shirley and Brent your photo
and you're the art piece that won the ALI competition will be printed in the
Sculpture Journal in an article about us in the next few months. Congrats
you got some mileage out that and so did ALI. That is a 15,000 circulation
magazine in the US.
Well I have to run I'm off to the National Association of Art Material
Dealer Trade Show today we will be at Booth 838 at the Hynes Area in Boston
Thursday through Saturday. All are welcome to say hello. Helen and I would
love to meet you.
WARNING! THOSE WHO ARE OFFENDED BY BLATANT SELF PROMOTION DO NOT READ THE
FOLLOWING PARAGRAPH. PLEASE SHIELD YOUNG CHILDREN AND OLD ARTISTS: By the
way all our products just got picked up by Dick Blick. We are excited about
that as they are the leading art materials website. Sculptor, teacher and
fellow ALI member Roy Butler is part of the Blick catalog that will be
circulated throughout the country further promoting our craft and his work.
Thanks, again to Roy.
Warmest regards
Ed McCormick
