For what its worth I always use Nivea for body hair ,beards ,head hair it towels off and no one gets stuck .
Alginate cast on plain skin areas I stiil use Nivia apply let it soak in and then rub off surplus .
Bandage on skin then I apply nivea more abundantly ,most of the people I do are feature film actors so there can be no room for skin blemishes of any kind Nivia helps me in this its safe clean and in my opiniun the only release I care to use 3,000 succesfull life cast cant be wrong.
vaseline is messy melts when in contact with warm skin so hairs spring up its more intrusive to apply.
Many years ago while assisting lifecasting an actor using vasaline he got stuck or his very fine hairs did he had a fine fuzzy hair , we got him out quite quickly though using imac hair remover I wouldn't reccomend it except in emergency's it also melted my fingernails so its pretty strong stuff that was also a turning point for me taking control and making sure no one was ever stuck again .
so go safely out there
