Final comment from me on this one...I am uploading the picture from this casting that came from the mold that stuck to the model. One of the things I tried with this plaster bandage mold was not sealing the mold with shellac or laquer. Instead I used an old home brewed recipe of mold release. As I added the release agent using a brush, it got rather waxy. I smoothed the agent by hand and thought it was relatively smooth. I then cast the hydrocal and waited for the cure. When I removed the mold, I was surprised to see the pattern put into the casting by the release agent. An accidental plus in my mind. I could not have created such a nice distressed look. Well I liked it. She says she liked it.
Lessons Learned: No cheap petroleum jelly. Use the good stuff. Old solutions to old problems sometimes have great results!
