Don, I am absolutely floored by your remark. When you met me at my exhibition reception in January, did I strike you as the kind of person who would be so insensitive to the real suffering of another human being? Did I come off callous or mean spirited? I cannot find a context for your baseless comment.
I related, with levity, an actual story of my day that has contemporary and historical relevance- if not a touch of irony- to what we are all doing here. What's more, I had the real sense that I was not only creating art and getting paid for it, but I was using my art in a tangible way to help another person.
I can only assume that you are experiencing a deep, personal loss of your own, and you are sensitive, in a general way, to those who may seem to take your suffering lightly. If this is the case, I am very sorry for your loss.
Otherwise you're just being a jerk. Knock it off.
