If you were displaying *my* work on your website I would be pleased unless you
were giving the impression that it was your work. The appropriate
consideration, in my opinion, would be to display proper credits for the
pieces somewhere on the page.

I think it's a nice thing you're trying to do... why not just contact the
artists and see if this works for them, instead of removing the images?
