aluminium is a rather tricky metal to protect, i have personaly found a good quality 2k lacquer is the best protection providing it has been polished to a high sheen and all traces of oxidization have been removed. other than that the only other true option is to polish the piece regulary just as you would a solid aluminium item. hope this helps and all goes well with your project.
