Topic Subject : Re: Urgent question about cold cast aluminium |
|
CJ, as it turns out, I do not have any nickel silver after all. However, now I remember that when I used it, it was not at all bright but in fact very dull.
I did a sample of something called "Extra Bright Aluminum" powder with Ploytec Easyflow 60 clear. It was a very small sample, 33 grams of Part A, 30 grams of Part B, ad 6 grams of the aluminum powder which was the same volume of either part A or B. Part I poured into a tin cured silicone mold of a baby's hand which was then cast under 50 psi pressure. I also simply poured a little on a smooth piece of the same type of rubber and let it set-up at ambient pressure. The results are in the photo. My problem with cols cast aluminum is that it, in my experience, doesn't come out shinny. Buffing it doesn't seem to help.
To get shinny, I have things coated by a local company called Extreme Chrome. It is a the process use a paint made for the automotive industry. There is a photo of a life cast torso on in my "Wall Photo Album" on Facebook.
Sorry I can not be of more help.
