Definetly agree with Dan on this one plaster can get so hot it burns skin
..Why not just make a light weight bandage, the flanges as I call them (dam
walls)can be easily formed in the bandage, coated with a release so that a
back and front mould can be made I generally go for a 4ply thickness this
once removed can be cleaned up on the inside with a rubber kidney and some
plaster then strengthened with plaster on the outside making it ok to push
your clay in.
its a bit late but happy new year every body.
Good luck with your work Debra.
as a foot note when plaster gets hot on someone I find spritzing them with
some water on the out side gets it sorted .
go safely

DAMNS!?! Hah!
I never made a DAM because I don't pour liquid plaster. Neither should you
because it leads to molds way too thick which means way too hot. Look at my
website, grasshopper. You are not ready for a torso. I've been doing direct
plaster molds since 1987. Double-clamshell molds are hard for us and tiring
for the model. Soap is used to prevent plaster of the second side from
sticking to the first side.
