Topic Subject : Re: Casting a wax positive |
|
i have done a full life cast in bronze doing this with
wax from a plaster shell.....
the trick is to wet the plaster first otherwise the
wax sticks and drys unevenly.....or cools i should
say..
and then trial and error to find the right wax temp
and how much you can paint in before wax cools too
much....best to do a whole area at once one bit after
the other with someone helping to keep a constant
supply of good working tempurature wax....
not sure if this helps as is a pretty hands on
process...
plaster must be damp but not wet.....ie wet it down
and then wait for a bit.....
this process will alway break the mold down a bit but
depends how copies you want to do....
best to pull pieces out when still leathery.....as
once truely hard they become fragile....or though if
you change you mix of wax you can make a softer wax
for this purpose.....ie adding candle wax makes it
harder .......if in doubt ask your wax supplier for
more details on wax types etc..
