Topic Subject : Re: Re: casting clay |
|
i was wondering if slip casting liquid clay in a
plaster mold would be the idea....
you could then use a multi piece mold or a waste mold
and slush it with slip (liquid clay) ....when the
thickness has been reached...a centimetre and the clay
is leathery take the mold off and fix any
damage....this requires no release as the clay acts to
obsorb any moisture in the clay...
once finished make sure you never make any closed
empty spaces as these will pop in the kiln...if you
dont want to use watery slip you can make it denser
and brush it in .....as you wish...
this method works for the production runs of many type
of pottery.....and i have seen it done in figure
casting...
does take longer than 20 mins though......
so process goes...
plaster negetive from life form
clay positive from plaster mold
fire in kiln
jesse stevens
in transit
