Topic Subject : Re: RE: Re: an important safety question mark |
|
Just back from a holiday so I missed the start of this.
Always remember balance: Just read a cement sack! They had no safety warnings (here) at all, less than ten years ago. Cement is widely used ... concrete buildings ....
The important point with DUST is that there is limited value in using a face mask (or whatever) if you are polluting the workplace, which you then spend 90 or more percent of your time in without a mask.
It's a bit too big a topic for an email forum. But techniwues include _proper_ ventilation (already suggested), wet sweepping (already suggested -dry sweeping is a massive cause of dust-in-air) and handling practices: 'Rolling' tilted jars to dispense powders produces dust, as does 'pouring'. Someone recently suggested "zip-lock" plastic bags for convenience of alginate handling. They would also seem an ideal way of minimising exposure. They can be prefilled and then used sealed for mixing. Why not do measuring/dispensing/prefilling of receptacles out of doors on a fine (and non-client) day?
Etc. , etc.
