Hi ALI,
I have been so busy these last several months that I have not had much time to attend to the ALI forum. This weekend I have a lifecasting workshop I am preparing for so that compounds my time squeeze. But I did note Phil Hitchcock is leaving Hollywood behind for a new chapter in St Louis - good luck Phil. Roy Butler and Dave Parvin both working on large bronze monuments. They will be incredible lifecasting examples when completed. Roy says he loves Las Vegas and is getting used to calling it his new home.
We have been doing a lot of product development especially with the silicones. I have attached a piece I just finished as an example. The mold was made with LifeRite skin-safe silicone. It was then cast using our new translucent SkinRite which replicates skin perfectly down to its elasticity. The SkinRite was mixed with some of our colored flockings before it was applied and then painted from the inside with our new line of silicone-based paint to give it the illusion of depth of color. I created the nails out of our clear resin. I then took a small rough makeup sponge iand some silicone brown paint and dapped on for age spots. To finish it off and to add the extra touch of realism, I clipped some hair from the back of my head and punched in the hair on the hand using a hand made punch made from a needle in which I broke it at the eye to create a fork. I then pressed the sharp end into a short dowel for a handle. It worked fine.
I hope you enjoy the work as much as I did making it.
. . . and most of all I hope you all are having a great summer.
Warmest regards,
Ed McCormick
