I would like to share an idea I have tried, comments welcome.
You need a hard mold for this.
Self hardening clay shrinks , so if you press this into your mold then back it with plaster or plaster bandages and leave to dry it cracks giving a pleasing effect. The thinner or thicker your clay effects the way it cracks.
I have attached a photo of one I did , I stabilised it with resin becase the clay drys "dusty".
