Topic Subject : Re: speeding up setting time of plaster |

Hi Claire
As others have said, a dash of salt in the mix speeds it up (best to
experiment to work out how much. I just do things by the pinch or
handful, never measure anything).
Or, as Philip said (I think) flakes of dry plaster in the mix or even
better a small amount of just setting (starting to turn to about wet
sand consistency) plaster just at the bottom of your mixing vessel will
act as a catalyst and make the rest turn faster.
Or use warm water, which is a simple and fast way of increasing setting
time.
Dental plaster isn't expensive though, so maybe it's worth investing in
some to have a go with.
