Another additive for accelerating the set time of plaster is calcium
cabonate, different from calcium chloride (table salt). Calcium carbonate is used in
the buildings trades to accelerate plaster, stucco, cement, etc. Used in
very small portions and when added to water becomes vary warm which is the
accelerant. Can be purchased from swimming pool supply and building supply
companies. We can make a 100 # bag of white cement (Hydrocal) set within 5 minutes
with about 1/2 cup per 100# volume. Dissolve a small amount into your mix
water before adding your Hydrocal or plaster gauze.
