The process is the same as with bronze-- it is a lost wax casting process.
You can do anything with it. The thing about glass is that it will turn out EXACTLY as the wax so you have to be sure its right. You can do colored glass, combine colors, opaque, clear, etc-- the possibilities are endless and i will for sure be doing more.
