Hi Bob, thank you for posting this.
Several months ago, after your new web-design went online, I also posted a note here. I thought this was a great opportunity for my fellow ALI members to share their art work to the worldwide community, via your “Virtual Gallery”. I was saddened to receive a reply saying, “We already have ALI, so why do we need a second website?”
I know we all readily agree that Ed has done an amazing job bringing us all together. In just a little over a decade, he has turned a handful of Founding Members into a thriving worldwide brotherhood of life-casters. I think it is important to note that ILCMuseum and ALI are not competitors. ALI is an organization set up to bring the worldwide community of life-casters together, while ILCMuseum is a museum set up share the history of life-casting, both past and present. … BUT BOTH share the same goal of educating the rest of the masses about the art form of life-casting.
One hundred years ago, the art world thumbed its nose at photography as simply a “copy medium”. Today, it is a well-respected fine art. I long to see the day, that likewise, life-casting is also elevated from a mere copy medium to the fine art status it deserves.
Forgive me for rambling, but this goal is a passion of mine. Hopefully as more light is shed upon life-casting, the world will one day accept it as a fine art. I believe this is a shared goal of both ALI and ILCMuseum.
And so, I encourage my fellow ALI members to stop by and check out ILCMuseum’s new website, and hopefully submit something to their “Virtual Gallery”. www.ilcmuseum.org
Peace out. ~ Joseph Canger
