Topic Subject : Lifecasting problem...

Have a lifecasting I would like to try doing, but am unsure how to go about it... It would be a casting of a female torso along with the palms of her hands as if she is pressed against a glass shower door or window. I tried doing this in 2 parts, the torso first, and the hands second. I applied the alginate, and then pressed a large piece of polished edge sheet glass over the breasts. A similar approach was done with the hands. What happened was the alginate was paper thin or non existant where contacting the glass. I plan to mount this on the back of a piece of sheet glass, but have lost all detail where the flesh touches the glass. The wet alginate simply seperates and is pushed to the sides. I was wondering if I should let the alginate set, add a smooth layer of plaster over this, and then make the contact with the glass. As it hardens, the plaster would hold the shape, and the alginate is set around the tissue, capturing detail without being paper thin. Anyone think this would work? I fear the set alginate may distort. Any suggestions???
Thanks!
Ben
