I am very pleased with the product as well. I have used the Body Double from Smooth-on, and I swear by their products too--They have an additive called Hyper Folic that you can add to the mix to make it "non stick and easy release". Sorry--but it just doesnt come close to the LifeForm.
As far as the cost-- until we can find something that compares with it-- I understand the cost of it. Really, its not that bad actually if you compare a gallon kit o it to a gallon of Body Double-- about the same by a few percent.
So if you are doing ANYTHING that you have to keep the hair on and you cant or dont want to use alginate, then this is the ticket for sure. The more you use it, the more you will find more uses for it.
Justin at Mouldlife has hit it out of the park with this one.
