Topic Subject : Edges of body casts |
|
I have been making body castings large and small for a few years - making moulds in various ways including alginate/plaster method and using body double rubber with plaster bandage mother moulds.... The moulds are working wonderfully, but I'm finding that when I fill the moulds (usually slush casting with Hydrostone or Resin) I'm getting gross, ragged edges that take a lot of work to sand down to smooth and make beautiful.
Just wondering if anyone has any fabulous techniques for this?
I'm thinking of building a faux-wall inside the mould (perhaps with clay, wax or plastercine) so that I can fslush my stone right up to a smooth wall instead of all the way to the edges of the mould? Anyone try this?
