Topic Subject : Re: Edges of body casts

I have tried building a clay wall inside a lifecast to create a nice finishing edge but have found that in the best cases it merely moves the edge you have to clean up a few inches in and in the worst case can slip off, into the mould.

The best bet is just to swill until the plaster starts to set up and then use a tool to clean away the edge before it goes off completely. If you want a thicker internal edge you can build it up with a separate batch later, either before or after de-mould. You can use a batch that you let start to turn before applying or a die-stone like Fujirock GC (more expensive!) if you want extra strength and a snapset texture from the get-go.
