Topic Subject : Cold Casting Metal costs... |
|
Thanks ALI for all the great informaiton you always provide. I find so much here on the forum that I rarely need to ask for help, but here I am.
I have not done any cold-casting metal/resin projects before, but am being given an excellent opportunity to create a large run of cold cast mannequin body parts - basically just the bum of a male model to show off designer underpants. I am familiar with the techniques of cold castings, but don't actually know how much metal powder I need to budget for in each casting - I don't want to cheap out by making it too thin, but I also don't want to underquote and find out later that I can't afford to do thisell. Given the metal powders are the most expensive part of the process I want to make sure I have a good idea before committing to my quote.
Does anyone have an approximate "ounce per square foot" or some other formula to help my figure out the metal costs in the project? I'm still not sure what metal they will choose, but at least knowing how much I have to mix will help my figure out an approximate cost per unit.
THANKS ALI!
