Topic Subject : Re: lumpy alginate |

Tressa,
this is the first time I've ever tried to help anyone on this forum. I've asked questions alot and everyone is awesome at answers and I've learned so much, but I am by no means good at this although I love it also. I also use accu-cast 380-cc alginate and I've cast praying hands. What I've found is that even if the alginate isn't perfectly creamy smooth (it still has to be pretty smooth) and the hands come out clean, I've got a pretty good negative mold, but I've also experienced that if the hands are cast folded over in prayer the fingers must be touching the hands or else I get missing finger tips. If I cast hands together in prayer (not folded over) I make sure they don't touch the bottom and I see no holes or I don't get clear fingerprints. I'm wondering if the lumps are from the liqui-stone? When I use a paint mixer with the drill for alginate I turn the drill on reverse so it doesn't add too many airbubbles. So far this is the best alginate I've used and great for us beginners because it changes color! Dave Parvin is awesome at answering any casting questions and I also have his dvd "Hands And Feet Casting Made Simple" and I've learned so much from that! I've also learned alot from youtube, there are so many videos to see (I think I have over 40 saved from Youtube)! Good luck, God Bless you and happy casting!
Michelle
