I hope that there is an attached photograph with this. I have not had great lick attaching photographs in the past. In any event, the photograph is of a torso I cast yesterday. As shown here is just in plaster and is not the finished piece which will be in Forton MG with metal powder. However, after I had made the plaster positive from the alginate mold, I couldn't help but notice how the light in my studio was playing with the contours of the casting. So I took a few photographs. In fact, the effect I really wanted was to make the casting look like shadows on sand dunes. While I didn't get exactly what I had hoped for, I felt that this photo is very sensual. Since then I have been thinking about how most of the photographs I have taken have been very, shall we say, "clinical." And mine are not the only ones. So I am challenging the members to submit some photographs that not just show the expertise of the life casters but also are stand alone artistic photographs as well.
I will probably add a discussion on photographing one's work to my life casting workshops. The next one just happens to be Aug. 16 - 20.
Hope to start seeing some great photographs from you soon.
Dave
