Topic Subject : Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Wax Mother mold...

I tried the wax supporting mold process today but did not have much luck.

My first problem was that my Parabath wasn't working properly and I was not able to melt the wax with it. So I heated the wax on in a pan. It took some time to get the Polytec Skin Wax to about 120 degrees.

I didn't want to experiment on a real person, so I used one of my silicone rubber dummy heads I had made for my workshops. I covered the face with alginate and then added a thin layer of cotton. Next I pained on the melted wax (about 120 degrees). The wax cooled so fast that I had difficulty getting the wax applied so that it penetrated the cotton down to the alginate. In addition, even after the wax had cooled to room temperature, the wax just didn't seem to have any strength. I will experiment again on Tues. and see if I have any better luck.
