Topic Subject : Casting Clay slip in a RTV Silicone mould ? |
|
Hey Everyone!
Sounds like a silly question, and I know that someone out there is gonna give me a quote about "you can only cast clay slip into a PLASTER mould as the moulds NEEDS to absorb the moisture in the slip, to produce a semi solid 'cast' ! "
I know all that as Clay is what I do, but ...
I think that a silicone mould (made using my FAVOURITE skin safe silicone "LIFE FORM" ... its Brilliant, Honestly it is. Try it!! ) could be filled with slip and then very slowly heated in a warm 50' Deg C ish oven, to evaporate the water away... leaving a clay cast.
I think it might work on SMALL items only, and the silicone mould would have to be pretty thin to allow successfull removal without damage to the clay.
Guess what i'm trying out later ;-)
Anyone got any ideas, or suggestions - Have you tried it ?
Adi
