Topic Subject : Re: Lines, airbubbles, alginate and more

Ali, i would like to answer your questions but it is about 1:30 A.M. here and I need to get some sleep. However, I would not let an alginate mold drain overnight for the reason you said, the mold might distort. However, I do turn the mold upside down and let it drain as I am preparing the plaster, hydrocal, or Forton MG. I have also used a hair drier for just a few minutes to dry the inside surface of the mold.

The "lines" you are having problems with, are thy like tiny riverbeds? If you are using some sort of vibrator to help get the bubbles out, over vibrating or even over tapping the mold can cause water either from the alginate or the plaster to form tiny "rivers" which do make lines. I will continue this in the morning, I need to get some sleep.
