I have never used the Pot method, i prefer to use a "Jaye-Cloth" and simply hold the alginate inside that with my hand... that way it takes very little alginate to cast a hand or foot :-)
The jaye cloth tears easily when its time to get the casting out. Using the Jaye cloth methood also has the advantage of your body heat from holding it causing the Algi' to set a little quicker.
