I have my own techniques for the problems you are talking about. A lot depends on the type of alginate you are using, the water temperature, the type of water, mineral content in the water, the mixing ratios,HOW you are mixing it etc, weather conditions, humidity, --a lot comes into play when encountering these situations so there is no exact answer to your particular situation--sometimes its trial and error--change one thing at a time to see the results. Mix up some small batches with the changes and record the results. Dont just leave it to memory as you WILL forget it. Good Luck again
