Dan, I just watched the video and read Philip's account and have to commend Philip for what he accomplished both time-wise and result-wise under what must have been very hectic conditions. However, to answer your question, I find that casting a torso front or back from top of neck to mid thighs using alginate takes with one assistant and STUDIO conditions 20 to 25 minutes depending upon the complexity such as arm placement.
I also have to thank Philip for doing something which should expose a whole bunch of people to life casting.
