Dan is correct that if gesso is used without thinning, it will cover fine detail. I use different primers based on the materials that I am using and what I want my final result to be. On the full bodycast that I posted pics of the other day I used thick gesso to intensionally cover some detail. I actually applied it with my hands. I didn't care if I left some streaks and thumb prints, but I didn't want brush strokes.
By the way, until resently I havent posted anything, but I have read the forum everday for a couple of years and visit your websites often. I want to tell all of you that although I been lifecasting for many years, I still learn things daily and I am greatful to be a part of this organization.
