Glad to hear that you are actually doing some castings and using all that knowledge!
There is a new book that came out the end of last year titled "Special Makeup Effects" by my very good friend Todd Debreceni which should explain in detail with photographs exactly what you want to know. I KNOW the book is good because I got to contribute to it. I just checked and it shows up on Amazon with just the title and author.
