I got the stronger dental gypsum mainly for the baby hands and feet. I found that if one was dropped a cement or tile floor they would smash in to pieces rather than chip a little with the stronger one.
So that would work if I made the hanging wire too long and want to shorten it even if the front has been painted? I ask becuase I would be affraid of the water making the paint seperate from the cast. This has happened to me in the past. My husband thought he would be helpful and hosed down our garage and one of my casts got wet, I noticed it about 10 minutes later, dried it and the naxt day it formed pockets under the paint only where there were undercuts. I fixed it but it was not fun.
