Yes, most finishes that don't breathe will pop off the surface. The
water has to escape somehow.
I don't know how thick you work, but if they are pretty thick, you
can drill and use screw eyes.
Using as much fiberglass as I do, my pieces can't shatter. I don't
know where to find dental plaster in quantity here anyway.
