I have been using the Forton MG now for a while, and while I think it is a great product, the only thing I dont like about it is the availability. You can (and someone correct me if im wrong here) only get it from one source. You can get the FGR95 from various places, but the resin , hardener and VF812 can only be bought one place, Ball consulting i.e.Arizona Sculpture supply. The other thing I dont like is that when you order a sculptor kit, the shipping cost is expensive and then you have to order 100lbs of the FGR95 to go along with it which is also expensive to ship unless there is a place close to you where you can go pick it up, but as I saw in another thread, most places dont carry it because there is not a big call for it and will only order pallets.
The problem with the sculptor kit is that with the mixing ratios that you use, you are only provided enought for 80 lbs of material so that leave you with an extra 20 lbs of FGR.95. Now you can use it with just water as a backfill, but it lacks the strength.
I called Arizona Sculpture supply, and they are great people by the way to see if I could get some small qty's of the other ingredents and that is not happening.
I am actually doing some experimenting on my own to see what other things are out there that can be obtained locally. I talked with my local Smooth-on guys and the closes thing they have is the Neo-Matrix stuff , but it is almost 3 x the cost of the Forton.
As I said, I love the Forton MG, just dont like the monopoly idea of being locked into one place to purchase it. Other than that it is wonderful stuff. So my search continues!!!
Goodluck all!!!
