Topic Subject : Re: Can I rescue a vintage cast? |

If you soak your existing plaster cast in water. The casting will bubble as
it absorbs water, once the bubbling stops then you can pull the casting
out of the container, let the excess water run off and while slightly damp
add your new plaster. The plaster should be the same as what you used in the
original casting. If you don't pre-wet the casting the new plaster will
stick but will not really bind and will become a weak area. If you sealed the
original casting with some sort of sealer then you will have to expose the
area that you want to add new material to.
