If I can make out your stream of thought, you do brush it, especially
in palaces. Wall plaster gives much more time to work and clean the
brush.
I have gotten by by pouring my HCal in my open mold and slushing it
plus using a piece of fiberglass mat as a washcloth to move it around
and be sure to reach all the crannies. I think maybe I'm scared of
the hard wood and metal of the brush knocking a fragile detail of my
plaster molds.
"Hessian"? Like sisal and jute?
