Topic Subject : Casting fabric and clothing

i would like to know what the best way for working with cloth , i havent tried yet , is alginate suitable for this , i would think the weight would distort it , and i have been in contact recently with an artist based in ireland who does large pieces in concrete

http://homepage.eircom.net/~wrighton/thumbnails.html

his work is quite sustantial in size , he himself is not fond of alginate , preferring the old style of splattering plaster onto the fabric ,and building up from there , i have seen once of his pieces , and the detail was amazing the weave of the fabric , even goosebumps were visible ,

any help would be appreciated
