The origins of this saint are still a bit sketchy.
They call her Maria Dela Salute. I believe there is a Cathedral in Venice named after her??
In fact it now seems as if she is a fallen angel.
Having fell from the heavens after being struck by lightning.
When finished she will have a gold lightning bolt coming out from her knee and an enormous hallow of stars around her head.
She was built to be carried annually in a persession, so weight has always been a factor in the design.
