Hi Nancy,
I agree with CJ that to prevent this from happening again, you need to make sure your work is thoroughly dry and stored in a dry area.
I believe I have an easier way to solve your current problem. It needs to be sealed as CJ said, but I would be afraid of sanding it first and losing details of your sculpture. By simply sealing it properly, you are cutting off the mold's air supply.
