Topic Subject : Re: Re: Re: tilt table

I have to agree with Dan and James, I don't see that a tilting table would be much of an advantage. It just so happens that I wrote a two part article for "Sculpture Journal," "Supporting the Model in Life Casting Part I and II" which is over 3,000 word complete with 26 photographs that discusses this very subject. The article should be posted in the ALI Library within a few days.

On a second subject, recently it was asked how much the addition of alginate increases the volume of the water to which it is added. At the time, I was pretty sure that the answer is "not much" but I was a little embarrassed that I had never measured it. A couple of days ago I did and is answer is "even less than not much." I was careful and I couldn't see any increase in volume at all. Just to be sure, I discussed it with Ed McCormick who probably knows alginate about as well as anyone since he makes so much of it. He confirmed what I had found.

Good casting!
Dave
